happy 2005!
"happy new year, biotches!!"
new year's wasn't spent with my peoples. i'd be a liar if i claimed i even went to my aunt's, along with the rest of my family, for countdown.
this new year's eve consisted of me passed out on the couch, under my blanket, with a piece of rolled up toilet paper shoved up my right nostril.
i was gonna go out..err was planning to go out with friends, but that never fell through. as stated earlier, an alternative would've been to spend it with my relatives - but that didnt happen either. i just wasn't in the mood for either.
why, you ask? because im as sick as a dog. whether this is viral or bacterial, i'll leave that up to the professionals. however, i do feel im getting better; even if my sleeping patterns are out of wack. whatever the case, i wish you good luck this year.
and remember, dont ever forget to count your blessings, because
things could be a lot worse for you right now.
things COULD be worse.
things could be worse.
take me for example, i ended off 2004 with a bang, literally (via my car accident) - you dont see me bitching and moaning. shit, i could be dead right now..then what? you'd be stuck reading that same
december jamaican patty entry forever.
God bless.
_________
the 20-20-20 law
being that i've been smothering my playstation 2 over the past few weeks, along with reading, along with surfing the net, i thought itd be beneficial to share some tidbits of information i've collected.
our generation is mostly near-sighted
my mom and i were discussing eye-health and me buying unnecessary new frames. she told me that our generation (those of us growing up in the technologically-advanced generation) have a greater incidence of near-sighted vision vs her and your parents' era, who had far-sighted vision.
the 20-20-20 rule of thumb
i was watching this health segment on the news last nite. this optometrist was outlining how video games and flickering computer screens really mess with our vision. he mentioned the 20-20-20 rule, which im happy to share with you: when reading or staring at a screen (as with video games and the net) after 20 minutes of this activity, look away and focus on an object at least 20 ft. for 20 seconds.
once again,
during 20 minutes of near-sighted activity on a screen/monitor or book...
focus on an object at least 20 ft. away...
for 20 seconds.
do this repeatedly, especially when doing the above activities for periods lasting longer than 1hour. this will ensure some of your eye's efficiency and well-being is maintained.
________
one more thing: my mom is so superstitious. i hate to think that im gonna grow up and be as superstitous as her. but i cant help it, i probably will follow her in her footsteps of buying 12 different kinds of fruits, cleaning all your clothes before the new year, and eating after the clock strikes midnite in order to ensure you never get hungry/starve this new year on top of creating good luck for yourself.
any others, i missed? i was gonna say eat long noodles, but that's a birthday thing.
good nite, children.
Lapu Lapu and others love you, too.
