so last nite im talkin' to homeboy's homegirl marianne. i told her how i heard k. west and common were coming to town. theyre gonna play the air canada centre. surprisingly, we had this chat last nite, on the same day that tickets just started going on sale. and surprisingly, i just found out about the whole tour by accident as i was surfing some forums.

after a mere 3 minutes of discussing the concert, we decided we should go to this thing. from there, homegirl contacted her homeboy, i contacted another homeboy...homeboy contacted his homegirl...and from there, it spread like wildfire. there's a count of 7 in total.

wha'chu know about that?!!

you know what this is
it's a celebration bitches
grab a drink grab a glass
after that i grab your ass

__________
so i'm here on my laptop; backpropped up against the side of my bed andmy knees bent at 45 degree angles - feet on the floor. i notice this big ass thread. feeling the length of it, i notice it leads back to the waistband of the jogging pants that i slept in. man it was cold last nite. from there i, like a child, begin to pull and pull...and pull. of course the string never ends but my pants continue to unravel. back in the days, whenever my mom saw a loose thread, she'd say cut it or else it'd grow to immense proportions. others said to light it on fire. i think that's a ridiculous fucking idea. ill tear it like the barbarian i am.

this was a quick, decent and pointless entry, as always.

long day ahead.
errands, exercise and work.

the world spins on it's axis way too fast.

we'll talk soon. after breakfast, perhaps?

my mom loves her tv shows just as much as me; more than i do, actually.
we now have all 4 seasons of curb your enthusiasm. she just bought season 2 and 4 today.
that's messed up.

now, i just need to buy myself degrassi's 2nd season *edit* complete junior high collection!

holy shit. i just went to amazon to cop a picture for my post..little did i know that they released the whole collection as a full box set. i got jipped buying season one exclusively. fuck.

it is freezing. it is.

abs, why do you always ask us if it's freezing up here? you want us to die, huh?
well im pleased to tell you, although it hasn't dipped below the negative celsius mark, it is pretty cold today, and windy for that matter.

i got about 25mins till occupational biomechanics. aside from that - 7 day weekend!!!
that's hype.

as per annum, it's that time where i say THANK GOD FOR JEWISH HOLIDAYS AT MY SCHOOL.
happy rosh hashanah & yom kippur, my hebrew homies!!!

i gotta take a shit. bounce.

i wonder myself, "why am i so effin' dope?"

jessica alba was on regis and kelly (i still feel weird saying regis and kelly vs regis and kathy lee). she's hot don't get me wrong...with her tanned skin, smooth legs, bright smile and fawn-like eyes but c'mon now...we all know that i liked jessica alba before jessica alba become the ish. im the truth. im the template!!!

i'm talking about when she was on the australian show flipper. remember those days? how old was i?....15, 14? anyhow, jessica alba is hot, i can't deny that. however, she's not one of my favourites and let it be known she hasn't been a favourite for a while now. and im definitely not about to pay to see her and that loser paul walker.

[jess, you're wack, b]

like that matters or like you should care anyhow.

ha. jessica alba. that's an idea as old as sit ups.
besides, not all hot things are good - chili dogs can give you heartburn not to mention hemorrhoids.

i'm so effin' dope though dont you think?

tanned skin and a bright smile...who doesn't have that? shoot, i have that.

partipACTION...but to the 1st degree?
so in canada we have all of these health initiatives to get not only kids but adults alike off their asses and outside doing something physically active; it's not new news. in fact, we've had several since the late '60s.

one of these was called participACTION. and no, it's not to be mistaken for hal johnson and joanne mcleod's bodybreak. anyhow, participACTION is long gone but it did play a vital role in spawning new current programs such as bodybreak and others that you hear of today.

sadly, one of the forefathers and facilitators of the participACTION movement, david carmichael, was on the front page of the paper yesterday; not for promoting health, but for murdering his son. long story short, his son had this mental disorder that made him easily agitated and aggressive at times. hating to see his son like this and probably not being able to cope, in addition to having his own brain chemistry altered, fitness leader david carmichael, was on paxil (an antidepressant) when he strangled his son to death.

sad story and close to home - not only geographically, but he was also my one of my prof's best friends.
sucks.

nutrition for the soul: the very basic things

it's 830 am and i went to bed at roughly 2 last night. here i am posting right before i go for my morning run. i gotta admit, as a promoter of health and fitness, it's hard sometimes - even for me. i ain't superman. big penis, maybe..but superman, no.

linked below is an article i came across on the net. take the time to read it. she might motivate you too.

after all, holly rustick and i share the same view of fitness: exercise for "the very basics". but like levar burton from reading rainbow says, "you dont have to take my word for it"....read the full interview here.

discipline yourselves.

kfc snackwich: aniston, textbooks and coboconk

so i was watching the newly refurbished a current affair on tv during dinner. never one to be a devout follower of gossip shows and "entertainment" news, i for some reason found myself in deep concentration surrounding their jen aniston story. they talked about how she's pulled her life together, how she's been out of the spotlight for a while, how she was on oprah's season premiere etc. etc.

i love jennifer aniston. let that be known. but sister, you let brad go. if i had a vagina, i wouldnt let brad pitt go. shoot, i have a penis...and i still wouldnt let brad pitt go. brad pitt is such a fucking cool guy. so what if he's gone? why should everyone be empathetic towards jen? we're talking brad pitt here; coolest guy on earth (next to me)! he's a hunk of a handsome man. in my opinion, brad was too good looking for jen anyhow. jen's a cool chick, but cmon...we're talking brad pitt here. he's the guy that every guy wants to be (next to me of course).

besides, word on the streets is that brad and angelina are now making sandwiches. one tabloid even went as far to say that they're getting married. whatever the case, good job brad. i dont believe in infidelity, so if that was the case...brad, youre a dick. if it's not the case however, but rather because brad wanted kids and jen didnt..or brad got a better highlight job than jen did...or jenn wanted popeye's and brad wanted kfc...then good job brad! angelina is an entry on it's own.

elsewhere in the wonderful world of jason de los Reyes, i dropped about a bill on books today, paid some tuition, bought some stationary, and put aside 100 for my SE Asia backpackorama (summer/fall '06). today is payday by the way. after all these costs, you do the math...i dont have that much money left to my name.

savings for trip: $300/$4000
miles run since school started: 3

finally, around here, there was a girl missing for about 2months. the family held on to hope for so long, but like most missing children cases, this one unfortunately ended in tragedy. read the full story here. i just wanted to point out that one of the areas where her remains were found was the same cottage country town where me and my peeps went camping a few weeks ago. small and odd world, ain't it? i flipped when i saw that on the news. coboconk: home of canada's smallest jail, home of a doughnut shop where jason and group of friends pooed when septic tank filled up, and now location of tragic end to the search of alicia ross.

alicia ross r.i.p.

i'm telling you...it's always those lonely white dudes who wear keds and eat turkey and swiss sandwiches on rye (what a generalizer i am, eh?). it's that classic serial killer profile. let's just hope this was his first and only victim. sick fuck.

tuna on a pita: the awkwardness

ever run into people from your past - whether their relationship with you was meaningful or not, and have that awkward feeling? im not even talking about an awkward silence, 'cause that's a whole 'nother level and entry. im talking about not even being able to approach someone and talk to them. that's what im talking about right now. usually, im a pretty easygoing, happy-go lucky guy. im hip. im hip. but for some people, i really dont have anything to talk about. with that said, i ask, "why even bother?" cut the bullshit for me and you and abstain from contact by any means necessary. i just had to post that as im in this lab, right now...trapped in this corner...and looking at this "person" two computers ahead of me - facing me.

requirements to meet this list are:
- you talk too much about nothing
- you talk about yourself too much and where you are in life
- you don't talk or you give me that one word answer bullshit
- i had sex/murdered one of your relatives
- i owe you cash/you owe me cash or something else

is this juvenile or is this adult?

***quick plug: sir colin ravenloft, the rambler has updated his turf after months of stagnance. he, too, has, recently purchased an ibook. that makes him the daddy-mac and me the mac daddy. he's also some musician guy with the name mac. who the fuck knows. show him some love here

i gotta get my mile-on. zip.

riding my tip

  • you make me a bubble tea

  • let's see - some powder...some tea...no bubbles..I SAID NO TAPIOCA BUBBLES...mess it up with lychee jelly, but definitely no bubbles; save that for the filipinos with their 'sago' trip and all other asians. not too sweet, not too cold. just right & refreshing. for heaven's sake, you mixed a 2dollar drink for me...probably even worth less than that. now you want a tip?

why do stupid places have a stupid tipping cup that promotes tipping for stupid things?

  • pizza deliveries
this is borderline. it could go both ways - either dude is on point as a wheelman and the hunger pains haven't taken over yet, or as usual, homeboy is walking on a thin line - thinner than those guys wearing spandex who walk high above the crowds with those lateral poles. why should i tip you for overpriced sauce and dough? i'll save my dough, keep the sauce for yourself.

  • frozen yogurt/juicer shops
this goes along the same lines as bubble tea bartenders/servers. there's really nothing special about serving up juice. now if you climbed the tree, retrieved the fruit for me...washed, rinsed and peeled the fruit before tossing it into the automated powerhouse of an industrial juicer, then sure, i'll be more than happy to tip you. since you didn't, i dont.

  • buffet waiters guys who retrieve your plates
these guys take your plate away. i never wanted them to, but they did. in my opinion, i'd wanna save water and soap and gas for everyone. on the other hand, why should i tip you for taking my plate away?...you should be doing that anyhow. otherwise, there'd be roaches and rats everywhere. plate-retrieval at buffets is a right not a luxury. no tip for you!

  • the hobo doorman
so i was heading to the subway platform one day but before i enter the doors to go underground, a bum kindly opens the door for me. "kindness"?...boy was i wrong; he had his hand out, palm up expecting me to drop some change there. yea right buddy. i got my swerve-on and opened my own door. i was going to walk thru his door and give him a low-five handslap - unfortunately, i dont trust where his hand have been..and unfortunately, i had no hand sanitizer on me. a door man to the luxurious subway platform of toronto...my ass.

there are more..but that's all that crosses my mind right now. i mean give me a break...i've been up since 5:30am.
in closing, i'll quote a great man. in the wise words of al bundy:
    if you want a tip,
    get a new job!

    there's your tip.

gotta go..i feel diarrhea coming my way. and hey..it's almost 11pm. that means cheaters and elimidate - food for the soul.

    [disclaimer***]
i do give credit where credit is do. nobody knows this better than me - as i have worked in the food industry myself. believe me...i ain't a lousy tipper. im most generous actually. my beef is with people thinking they deserve a tip where ancient tipping guidelines just don't apply.

  • a ribtop notebook, rather?

im such a slob. who uses a laptop on their lap? really. as i type this from my bed and on my back, im left to wonder the long term effects, if any, of having a computer radiate and emit whatever kind of waves they do from its internal workings into my torso. everything under and around the ribs do compose the "vital regions". im left wondering, "is this gonna mess me up?"

anyhow, to start your day off, make some breakfast for you and your mutha..i mean mother. juice some carrots, honey tangerines and oranges...boil some eggs and prep some oatmeal. breakfast doesnt have to be extraordinary to be healthy or meaningful. next, drive over to the train station and hop on the next train east towards downtown toronto. enjoy the sights and sounds (and stench) of chinatown before heading over to the big mall located in the core of the city. we ate chinese by the way...it was a toss up between viet or chinese. the big red machine or sleeping giant known as china won because they had the steamed fish that my mutha...i mean mother desired. i added a side dish of that spicy eggplant that i treasure so. back to that mall in the core - shop around...and around..but really just walk for the sake of walking. head west and back home...but not before picking up that roast chicken deal from the nearest grocer.

    zoom.

830am class. again...not since first year. oh well..with 4 day weekends (2nd year in a row. damn i plan well) who the fuck am i to complain?

what a great semester this will be. especially wednesdays. especially.
God bless psych majors. bless 'em all.

another post coming to you from steacie science library on campus. today was suppoosed to be yorkfest. i guess that's not happening considering that outdoor concerts don't always work out so well when you have rain.

i just bought this 5 dollar photocopied booklet from my prof. he sold them to the class for about 5 bucks a pop. although 5 dollars isnt that much to ask for a required reading that your midterm will be based on, it still is a hidden fee.

hidden fees suck. and really, it's about 30pages max. im not a math major, but that just doesnt add up.

you happy dr. M Luther?...you have my five bucks now. mind you, this isn't dr. martin luther (king). just m. luther...the white dude who teaches my psych of education class and drinks diet pepsi.

just him. be back soon....homework time.

    (10pm update)
how to be me (by an asshole)
buy a shawarma...the chicken is on special during wednesdays.
get everything on the shawarma that you wouldn't get before class or during work.
    take the late bus home.
butt into line because you just have to get home and a seat on the bus.
eat the shawarma on the bus..complete with those onions. raw onions.
open up your laptop and start typing your assignment. do this eventhough the lights on the bus are out and the middle aged woman next to you is trying to sleep.
when her stop comes up, give her the middle aisle but not before backswinging your backpack into her and sitting down.
after all of that, get off the bus and be sure to take your shawarma wrapper and napkins with you. i mean youre an asshole...not a barbarian.

    i want you

3 things on my current wishlist.
a wishlist of wishes that i can't grant (but probably will).

    [nicolay: city lights volume 1.5]
if youre familiar with pete rock's instrumental series (petestrumentals & surviving the elements - as i have plugged on here several a time), then you'll love this. some horns..some drums...half hip hop half jazz...all good.

    [mark ecko's getting up]
you probably know ecko, the brand with the rhino, right? what you probably didnt know is that the founder is mark ecko. and what you didnt know about mark ecko is that before he was this big sportswear entrepreneur, he was a graf artist. this video game is hip hop culture..specifically, the writing element (graf). and dare i mention?...talib kweli is the main character's voice! and a supernice hip hop soundtrack of course. i love you, playstation.

    [red plums..i can't get enough!]

    super nice.

oh yeaaaa...i have to buy this semester's books. shoot.
    oh right...bootlegs.
can we say copyright infringment, kids?

    [some] white people

    i can't understand it.

why do white people tan? throughout history, white folk have degraded and tormented anything and everything that wasn't white - and not just blacks mind you. i mean we often hear that white is good & black is evil. what kind of shit is that?!! back in the days there were white and "colored" sections in buses, washrooms, lunch counters and even water fountains.

today, i dont think race relations have gotten better here in the americas. i mean sure, us minorities are "tolerated', but we're certainly not accepted. there is a definite line here. i know im cynical a lot of the time, and here's one statement that'll support it: it's a white man's world.

but with an optimistic attitude, i'll add, it's only a white man's world as long as you let it be one. so with that said, i hope that all you fellow "coloreds" out there empower yourselves and not accept the bullshit.

    build on your communities, folks.

but going back to the white thing. im not racist nor prejudice nor ignorant. and i must say that not all white peeps are bad; just a lot of them. did you catch me smirking?

moving back towards the white thing and the tanning issue - why do white people tan? if they hate coloreds so much, then why try and look like coloreds? if white people hate black people so much, then why did they kidnap them from their own countries only to bring them here, turn them into slaves, build the land, and eventually say "go back home where you came from"? why did white people use the chinese to build the railroads? if it weren't for the chinese, there would be no paper and therefore no toilet paper to wipe their flawless white asses. and why did the white folks take away the red man's land only to claim it as their own?

how come white immigrants are considered american/canadian but i'm not? shit, im a true canadian. i was born here. you should note however, no matter how great this land is, im filipino before im canadian. that's just being real with you.

i see this racist shit all the time...and i almost can't come to terms with it.

to marry a filipina or not?
an older filipina once said to me "jay, dont marry a filipino [eventhough im filipino myself]. it's a lot better to marry outside of your culture. filipinos have too much baggage. if you marry a filipino, youre gonna have to take care of her family too." she's married to whitey.
    1. this is the most racist shit ever. to hate your own race is probably the saddest thing in this world. how can you love anyone else, regardless of race, gender, or creed, if you dont love yourself and who you are? how do you look in the mirror at the end of the day?
    2. so what if i take her family too? that is not a problem. that is not a concept exclusive to filipinos. this is a universal concept called "family" and what marriage is. sure, you need to have your own family and live your own life, but marrying your partner should include gaining an extended family who will love and care for you just like you should love and care for them. besides, your spouse, if you didnt realize, is also gaining your family, just the same - who the hell says that's a bonus?

    american vultures
i used to rock american eagle. they had nice hoodies and shorts. now, i cant wear anything from their. it's too white. it's this white image they have. this white frat image of some white guy with his white friends getting "tanked" at some house party wearing flip flops, a blue and green ruby shirt and some kind of shelled jewelry. none of the posters in their ads reflect my lifestyle and quite frankly, none of their shit catches my eye. i dunno...maybe im not frequenting enough kegger parties nor using a funnel right. no skin off my brown nose. same goes to you a & f you racist pigs.

    church
peace be with you...but only as long as youre white. in the catholic church we have this point during the mass when we're asked to shake hands with the people around you and greet them peace. this not only builds cohesion within the church but also a strong church community - at least theoretically. in my church, and in reality, ive had several different instances where a white family in front of me greeted every other person around them except my family. then again, my family is filipino. we have asian/spanish flare to our look - not very fashionable or "in" in the white world. maybe that was it...now that i think of it, a lot of the time, if not most, the people around them, except us, were white. maybe we don't deserve peace. funny...maybe im not reading the same bible as them. maybe im reading the "colored" english version of the good news bible. huh? funny. some of their white english doesnt translate to our primitive colored enlgish, im guessing.

    i'm black?...since when?
at work a month or two ago, a white man came into the store looking for clothes. i helped him, he was happy. he walked up to the register to pay. note, there are no black coworkers of mine (unfortunately).
    "did anyone help you today?"
"yea...the black guy in the back."
    "....you mean jay?"
    "uh..yea, that guy."

i am not black. i guess white people just cluster all coloreds into one big black group.
    1. he shouldn't of addressed me as black..or brown...or purple. this is just wrong. he shouldve described me visually....my height, my haircut, my location - but definitely not my color. would it be just if i came running to the cashier saying "yea i helped that white guy over there." would that be professional? fuck professional..is that even acceptable by social standards?
    2. what neighbourhood does he live in? i feel sorry for these people; they probably think my ancestors climb trees and retrieve coconuts for a living back in the philippines.

those are just a couple...more to come later.

    - signed jay, lover of all colors and non colors alike.

white power! but my power too!

p.s. new layout, yall! like you didnt know.

once again, im here on locale. you're probably gonna get a whole series of these campus journals all year. where the punisher had his war journal, im just some punk kid who has internet access all over campus.

well where yesterday was a lonely ass day where i recognized nobody, today was the complete opposite. and although i, again, have only one class, today's class, occupational biomechanics, fueled the fire of my passion for kine. on top of that, i have a few friends in there. good thing too, because i dont think i can spend the whole year like yesterday. i could spend the next hour talking about how much ergonomics and the etiology of workplace injuries, but i won't instead, i'll buy some street meat (hot dog from a hot dog vendor) and head home. oh...it's pay day! and today is my nephew's birthday. that means trip to walmart and gamecube to be bought. is it really for him though? any suggestions for kids' video games?

in closing, im here in this telecommunications building. most of these losers masturbate to mHz size and flash drives. but hey who am i to judge?

i can be harsh. too harsh.

who cares?!! i've started up my running regimen again. catch me at the toronto track centre.

day 1: iLonely...intellectual, but lonely nonetheless

the day starts off with my mom frying me up some spam and eggs -- nasty to you, heaven to me. anyhow, like all previous first days of school over the past 4 years, the line up for the GoBus was a bitch but that was nothing compared to the seating arrangement on the Go. people were in the aisles...asses were rubbed on my shoulder...smells - all kinds of smells were lingering everywhere. i get to school and can't help but notice the crowd. is enrolment to my school free? are there no more requirements whatsoever? beats me. of course, my school has the reputation of having the hottest girls and as usual, i wasn't let down. however...HOWEVER, glances to fresh meat froshies are short lived and enjoyed once i get it through my head that i'm 23 and theyre 17. i couldnt even type that *shivers in disgust*. rule of thumb...check the girl's shoes. 95% of the time i can tell age by footware. but let it be known, this only applies in southern ontario.

get to school, meet up with the few peeps that i actually have ties to and who are still here, like me, for a 5th year "victory lap". we grab lunch...check out the new buildings and all that good stuff. they leave for the day and my day begins. this is 230pm. i head to lecture. today, it's a scheduled 3hr psychology of education session. i get to class..a 3rd year elective for me...and there's absolutely no faces i recognize. fair enough.

from here, we're asked to draw a figure of a person. from here, i ask you to open up your nearest computer drawing/paint program and/or grab a piece of paper. from there, you should draw a person. not too detailed; i dont want a picasso or anything - just a five minute picture of a person (no cropping or post drawn-altering). and from there, i ask that you link me to it in the comments, or email me so i can post it up for all to see. from there, i'll let you in on what i learned today in class based on looking at an individual's drawing of a person. but remember, you dont see mine till i can see yours. if not, i'll eventually let you all in on the meanings of a child's drawings most of the time.

back to lecture, i knew nobody. however, people talked to me. do i have some kind of face that says "hey, come and talk to me"? maybe it's my mouthwash. from there, we were forced to sign up for presentations later on in the term. i mean who signs up to present about something they've never heard of in their life? no groups were formally formed, people just signed up for their topics, and that was that. whoever the hell my fellow group members are is beyond me. i'll see them at the presentation, i guess.

now' im here on my ibook...wireless....on campus -- coming down from what was the loneliest first day of school (next to kindergarten of course when mom and dad left me to the wolves kids).

but hey...all the more reason to focus right?
then again...im a very social person. new friends, where you at?

    - signed, a 5th year undergraduate who knows the ins and outs of this place (at least he thinks so).

p.s. my class was in the new accolade project - west building. what'cha know about that?!! now...i just gotta christen that place by taking a shit in there while it's new and untouched.

tomorrow i go back to school. from humble beginnings, i have seen my school grow a lot. and with it, i've grown too. but before this post becomes too philosophical, i'm gonna log off.

what will i wear? how big of a coffee should i get? turkey or ham for lunch? nutella for breakfast?. maybe head downtown after school?

am i the only one excited?

today was my niece's first day of grade 3 and my nephew's first day of junior kindergarten.
forget my big deals...that's a big deal.

    batman is a fucking ninja!
    HOLY SHIT.

what better way to spend labour day monday aka the end of summer other than brunch with my family and a mid-day matinee. obviously, i saw batman begins.

a must buy for dvd, nuff said.

now im off to pacific mall -- basically this chinese mall, like other chinese stores, that never close. you chinese people are freakin' business-oriented robots...but i thank you for it because otherwise, i would've just slept all day (and any other holiday) and otherwise...who would be my source for bootlegs?...me? ha.

    bounce.

what is love? (baby don't hurt me...no more)

so this is basically the end. the end of summer that is. usually, the annual visit to the Canadian National Exhibition symbolizes the end of summer and the onset of fall. one part of summer vacation that i'm gonna miss is right now. im talking about just sitting here, late on a saturday night, and watching absolutely nothing.

there's sexTV...a little bit of news....some infomercial...some ads showing hot girls in bikinis and high heels - waiting on their beds for me to call them for a small fee of $3.99 per minute. can you believe that i even passed up the scorcese masterpiece 'gangs of new york' for 'night at the roxbury'?

    "Sometimes I get discouraged
I look around and, things are so weak
    People are so weak
    Sometimes,
    Sometimes I feel like crying
    Sometimes my heart gets heavy
Sometimes I just want to leave and fly away [fly fly fly, like a dove]
Sometimes I don’t know what to do with myself [ow!]
    Passion takes over me
    I feel like a man
    Going insane
    Losing my brain
    Trying to maintain
    Doing my thang"

as i sit here in front of the tv, watching the ever-depressing news, i cant come to terms with what's going on. all we can do here is bitch and moan about what?...ABOUT GAS PRICES?!!

what pisses me off most is that most of these people had next to nothing to begin with.
the rich get richer and the poor.,..well, the poor are left to die.

    katrina, you bitch.

i was having a shitty morning...

then i read this. that's bascially my friend's girlfriend's blog c/o friendster. since i haven't had time to jot down anything and complete it as of late, i thought i'd link that post. it did brighten up my day.

why? because that "friend" that was falsely accused of linking porn to her boyfriend was me. why i should be the scapegoat?...i shall never know. porn??....what's that?

thanks for that laugh, marianne. do you still even read this?
