2.
city lights vol. 1.5 - nicolay
3.
dynamite - jamiroquai
4.

5.
the minstrel show - little brother
"soul" according to
wikipedia is " a combination of rhythm and blues and gospel which began in the late 1950s in the United States. Rhythm and blues (a term coined by music writer and record producer Jerry Wexler) is itself a combination of blues and jazz, and arose in the 1940s as small groups, often playing saxophones, built upon the blues tradition. Soul music is differentiated by its use of gospel-music devices, its greater emphasis on vocalists, and its merging of religious and secular themes."

the above albums are soul to me. not because they have a sax or because they have some sort of gospel element to them but instead, because they put their soul into their music. it's just something you can feel and that factor is something i find extremely lacking in about 90% of the music out there today. i can connect with these songs because theyre butter. download them if you will, but buy instead - because these are worth it.
i come from a time when music was art.
dope list!
i slept on nicolay's joint for a minute, only appreciating it after a few listens.
