it was a good day.

in the above title, an early 90s gangsta rap song out of south central los angeles, ice cube exclaims that his day, specifically that day that he rapped about, stood out from all other days he's ever had. he starts out saying:
"Just wakin' up in the mornin' gotta thank God
I dunno but today seems kinda odd"

it's weird and ironic 'cause you'd think that even for a gangster rapper like ice cube (during the 90s) - good days in gang & violence & drug & poverty-infested south central l.a. cali are next to none; almost impossible. what you're supposed to get from cube's anecdote is the fact that little things make a day a good day. beyond that, winning the lotto or buying yourself a new tuxedo isn't necessarly grounds for a good day - it's not just limited to those.

for me, today was just extraordinary.

yes, my lesson for rec & elementary games went just great!
the class really had fun and i even got props from my teacher who overlooked me the whole time. but enough about that...

for the last couple of weeks, it's been odd because here and there and everywhere around campus, i've been bumping into old friends. these aren't just any old friends, mind you; these are people who i haven't seen since i started university (4years) or even since 2 years ago (that's still awhile back). today was something different, no, not because i saw pavel (paul) from my high school bio class - the guy who used to be my lab partner in addition to the guy who i'd sit with and throw bean pods at unsuspecting fellow students. no, it's not special because of that dufus.

today, while going to the big library at skool (as opposed to the science libraries , business libraries, law libraries and the women's studies libraries - all of which i'd rather spend my time in that this big poor excuse of a quiet library), i ran into a certain female who's cup of tea i fancied very very much at one point; almost smitten by her, if you will. anyhow, as the years went by, we lost in touch for whatever reason.
however, today, yes, today - two weeks until a large handful of my peers finish their 4 year bids at york university in their respectable fields, i happened to run into her. in fact, she saw me..waited for me at the top of the stairs and flagged me down. although it's been awhile, i must say....she's still has it going on! wow.

so we talked for awhile...a long while. actually - having no care for the homework that each of us should've tended to. we started catching up, talking about skool, how things were, what's in store for the future etc. etc.

at this point, i should back-track actually, when we first said hi (me with my idiot smile from ear to ear of course) it was one of those weird urges. any of you ever get that feeling when you just wanna grab someone and hug them but refrain from doing so - never knowing really why you hold yourself back? well it was one of those today.

moving forward, we re-exchanged our new contacts...hugged eachother...made some plans...and went back to the books.

'cause that is what we were both there to do, right?

what's with the ga-ga over geeky girls, anyhow?
[*dribbling* btw, she even wears these funky sneakers now.
sorta complementary to my adidas citrusy formel 1's, cept she rock's tangerine and blue pumas.]
